A New Brave User for a Strange New WorldI recently got a new account on facebook with the sole purpose to communicating with my gradeschool and high school buddies. Well, I am not as young as I used to be and learning new tricks does not come as easy as well. So with nobody to learn from, and the kids too far away and too busy with their own families, I decided to make this my new mission, self learning the internet and facebook. I started off with basic internet information. I bought books that were easy to understand as they were from the childrens section. Then I went into facebooking. I had to email facebook help representatives a dozen times over just to fully understand and grasp the significance of the whole thing. Whew, where are typewriters when you need them, things were clearly simpler then than today and I have to give myself a pat in the back for riding with the tide not against it. My children were all shocked when I decided to add them to my facebook account and I was pretty happy about that.

Financial Institutions Use SMSAll financial institutions use the SMS technology to assist their clients against online fraud. You can ask them to activate this service on your account. You will then be notified via SMS of all transaction taking place within your account. Say for example, you do a payment online, the institution will notify you via SMS of the transaction and the amount transferred from or deposited into your account. It will also provide you with your account balance after the transaction took place. Once you created a new beneficiary on your account, you will be asked to verify your request and will be provided with a security number via SMS. Only after you inserted the correct verification number into the system will this new beneficiary be added to your list. Some institutions might even require a further verification code to enable you to do the payment online. Though you might think it is time consuming, it is the best way the financial institution can safeguard your money.
